The past couple of weeks have been extremely hectic for the team behind E. Here's why:
Survival of the fittest. That's the name of the panel session that we've organized with our friends from Marvia, Soocial and Wakoopa. We'll be discussing what it's like to be a starting company in 2009 with each other, financial experts and investors. We gave away free tickets to the lovely people on Twitter so they can get a taste of PICNIC, which has a special place in our heart when it comes to conferences.
Last year, yours truly got invited to come on PICNIC's main stage by Werner Vogels, VP and CTO of Amazon.com. It was the first time that we pitched E publicly, in front of a huge audience. Back then we just entered private beta (or should we say alpha), and our adventure began.
This year, we're in the finals of the Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2009, competing against the coolest mobile companies after nerve-wrecking rounds of presentations in front of a jury. We're in the middle of the launch of a significant update to our cloudservice, which will improve scalability and overall stability of the system. In other words, updates that most users won't notice. And to top it off, we're fundraising. And as any company who's in the same position as us will know: fundraising takes a lot of time and patience.
And we try to catch some sleep somewhere in between these things.
But the experience is beyond worth it. Feeling the rush of pitching your company, your vision, your idea to a jury of experts, and being on stage with equally committed companies is exhilarating. And it's great to be doing it at PICNIC again. All we can say is that we're looking forward to Friday.
