Woobius Eye Beta

We're very glad to have got through to the final round of the Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2009 awards. It's very exciting, and we're looking forward to the finals at PICNIC.

In the meantime, we're developing a beta version of Woobius Eye. It's a lot of fun (for technology geeks like us) to see the pieces coming together as a whole, from the real-time protocols to the delicious looking iPhone and Android interfaces or the Flex client.

What's Woobius Eye?
For those who don't yet know what Woobius Eye is, it is, fundamentally, about helping people have live discussions on visual images and documents remotely. It's about helping them make sure they're not only seeing the same thing, but pointing at the same thing, in situations where explaining it in words is just too lengthy and complicated.
Here's a simple example: let's say you're out doing some DIY shopping, buying some new door handles. This would be really easy to do with your significant other, so you can discuss the choice with them right there and then. But what if one of you is in the office that day? No problem. Snap a picture of it in Woobius Eye, and you can then point at it, live, at the same time, while discussing which door handle will look best on your living room door. Watch the youtube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqPe27sdwzw to see more examples of how Woobius Eye can be used.
This is a kind of problem that recurs over and over in our daily lives, but particularly in the construction industry. Architects and construction managers often have to report problems on site, or ask for information from the office, and there is constant miscommunication about which part of the building they are talking about.
Aside from the construction industry, we are receiving interest from many different sectors. If you have a use case for Woobius Eye, we would love to hear about it.
Limited places for beta testers
At the moment, we're looking for beta testers. We've got 50 places for the initial iPhone application which are mostly filled up already, but there's still some left, so if you hurry and sign up at http://woobius.com/eye, we should still be able to fit you in. We'll also be coming out with an Android beta client soon after the iPhone beta, so if you're an Android user, do sign up as well!
