Jury and Process

The jury team consists of Vodafone employees and independent mobile experts. The latter group is slighly more dominant (in numbers) in the jury composition as to cultivate independent judgment.

The Final jurymembers are

• Vincent Everts (Independent representative from NL)
• Rudy de Waele (Representative Mobile Monday)
• Richard Titus (Independent representative from UK)
• Heike Scholz (Independent blogger DE: MobileZeitgeist)
• Lee Epting (Representative Vodafone)

The voting process:

• At PICNIC: 5 jury members will each give you points (6 points for the best, all the way to 1 point for the last).
• Closed vote: members of PICNIC, Vodafone and Mobile Monday will be able to give you a vote as well (6 points for the best, all the way to 1 point for the last).
• Open vote: The public can vote for his/her favorite start-up on the VMC2009 website (3 points for the best, 2 points for the second, 1 point for the third).

To come to the finals, we implemented an advanced voting system.
We created a combiniation in which we use the advantages of the above three (!) different voting systems as to mitigate its disadvantages.
This to come to an end result where the most objective results are combined with the expert jury members (with independence, only one Vodafone jurymember as you can mention above).

To come to an end conclusion the weight of the jury members (authority) is the largest, followed by the weight of the Mobile Monday UK and NL visitors (large public, public as in MoMo London and Momo Amsterdam members).
Different checks have been implemented by our webcrew to ensure no manipulation of public results was possible.
