Selection process
The Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 contest consists of 2 jury rounds, a public voting and a final/third jury round
Just like the previous 2 years of Vodafone Mobile Clicks we will uphold very high standards of integrity, objectivity and completeness to select the best mobile internet startups around. This means that in all jury rounds the mix of Vodafone and non-Vodafone jury members is <50% respectively >50%.
We are respectful of your time and trust in our competition. This also means that you can ask us about the specific ratings of our jury as a whole. This valuable feedback can be used by you and your startup to boost your proposition and marketing efforts. We are glad to help you as a startup in this respect.
All mobile internet startup entries will be evaluated in all 3 jury rounds based on the same 5 selection criteria with equal weighting:
- Originality, creativity and innovativeness
- Technical and operational ability
- Economic and financial viability
- Use case and end-user value
- The quality of the members of the (management) team (e.g. their experience, knowledge, skills, relationships)
The Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 contest consists of 3 different jury rounds:
First Jury Round (August 23rd - August 29th 2010)
- Selection per competing country done by a team of 3 local and 2 global mobile professionals
- Selection is done online without any physical presentations, purely based on the registration form
- The 3 local mobile professionals for each participating country are from the local Vodafone office, the local Mobile Monday chapter as well as a popular local mobile blogger
- The 2 global mobile professionals are key for consistency and quality across all participating countries
- The best 5 entries with the highest average ratings (as a whole) in each competing country will be selected for the next jury round and be notified instantly by e-mail and phone
Second Jury Round (September 2nd - September 10th 2010)
- Selection per competing country done by a team of 1 local and 4 global mobile professionals
- Selection is done online without any physical presentations, purely based on the registration form and your presentation sent to us before September 1st (prepare a great one in advance!)
- The 1 local mobile professional is the same representative from the local Vodafone office as in the first jury round
- The 4 global mobile professionals are Rudy de Waele, Peter Vesterbacka, a CEO of a hot mobile internet startup as well as a representative of Vodafone Ventures
- The mix of local and global jury members has changed as to maximize consistency and quality of the selected mobile internet startups
- Online jury round to decide on the finalist of each competing country based on the highest rating (as a whole)
- A physical meeting on September 10th with all jury members - relevant for this particular jury round - will be held in Amsterdam to discuss all suggested finalists and reach final consensus
- 1 startup entry will be chosen to represent their country in the final at PICNIC on September 24th in Amsterdam
- Finalists will be notified instantly
Public Voting (September 11th - September 22nd 2010)
- In this period the public will be invited to vote for their best mobile internet startup amongst the finalists for PICNIC
- Selection will be based purely on the startup level, not on the level of the 5 different selection criteria
- Just like in last years’ competition we will have a open public voting and a closed public voting
- The open public voting is based on votes by anyone interested in this mobile contest
- The closed public voting is based on votes by the members of the different Mobile Monday chapters that participate in this contest
- The closed public voting has double the weight relative to the votes from the open public vote as to minimize skewed results
- The results from the open and closed public votes will be combined to determine the public ranking of the finalists
- This ranking will account as 1 official jury member vote during the final jury round at PICNIC (see below)
Final / Third Jury Round (September 24th 2010)
- 1 final consolidated jury round at PICNIC with all finalists, 1 for each participating country
- All finalists are physically present at the PICNIC event, the closing day.
- All finalists will present their mobile service, app or site to the world class jury team in a 15 minute presentation followed by Q&A with the jury team
- Jury team will consist solely of global mobile professionals, a.o. Om Malik (GigaOm), Russell Buckley (Google), Rudy de Waele (DotOpen, Mobile Peer Awards) and different high profile Vodafone Group representatives
- Jury team will be extended with 1 virtual jury member representing the ranking by the public votes (closed and open combined; as stated above)
- Award ceremony will be held on the same day at the PICNIC event where the winners of 100.000 euro and 50.000 euro will be announced including a global press release by Vodafone and all other stakeholders in this contest
We invite you to participate in the largest mobile internet startup contest of its kind in the world. Get connected, receive valuable feedback from a world class jury team and aim for the 150.000 euro prize money. Power to You!
